Talented Somerset County Musician Emily Raber Dies At 23

Born in Shantou, China, Emily was adopted when she was 18 months old, her obituary says.

Emily attended Christ the King School and Hillsborough High School, where she was known for her athletic ability in track and skateboarding. She later went to Raritan Valley Community College and Rowan University before becoming self-employed as a caretaker for children.

Emily had an incredible gift for music and played the piano, flute, and guitar. She also demonstrated her love and talent for her craft as a singer in the Children’s Choir at Mary Mother of God Church.

Above all, Emily will be remembered for her altruistic nature that constantly drove her to help both people and animals.

Emily’s surviving family members include her loving parents, Robert and Maria, her aunts, uncles and cousins: Susan, William, Conor and Juliana Malloy; Michael, Betsy, Kylie and Henry Raber; Richard, Kristy, Annie and Zachary Raber; and Brian and Mary Lynn Devlin, and many more.

Donations can be made in Emily’s loving memory to the Epilepsy Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to providing resources to individuals and families affected by seizure disorders.

Emily’s visitation will be held at Hillsborough Funeral Home on Monday, May 8 with a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, May 9 at Mary Mother of God Church.
